Introducing Home Trust Visa Cards with Chip & PIN

Why Chip and PIN?

Home Trust is pleased to provide all of our Visa Cardholders with the latest Chip and PIN technology. Home Trust Visa Chip Cards are embedded with a microchip that securely stores information associated with your account in a secure encrypted format.

How do Visa Chip and PIN Cards work?

Chip Cards require the use of a Personal Identification Number (PIN) instead of your signature for transaction verification, similar to Debit Card transactions. When making a purchase at a chip terminal your Home Trust Visa Card will be inserted into the terminal and you’ll be asked to enter your PIN into a keypad instead of signing a receipt. Your chip card will remain in the terminal until the transaction is complete.

To ensure global acceptance, your Home Trust Visa Chip Card is also outfitted with the traditional magnetic stripe for use at point-of-sale terminals not yet converted to Chip and PIN.

  • Your PIN is unique to you. It will become extremely important to remember your PIN, as more and more merchants begin to replace their magnetic stripe point-of-sale terminals with chip terminals.
  • Protect your PIN and do not let anyone else know or use your PIN.
  • Your PIN replaces your signature, so there are no receipts to sign.
Using your Home Trust Visa Chip Card is easy:
Using your Home Trust Visa Chip Card
  1. Insert your card into the chip terminal.
  2. Follow the instructions displayed on the terminal’s screen.
  3. The terminal will display the purchase amount and request your PIN. Your PIN replaces your signature.
  4. Once your PIN is confirmed and the purchase is approved, a receipt is printed. When your transaction is complete, you will be prompted to remove your card.

Where can Chip & PIN be used?

Your Home Trust Visa Chip Card can be used for everyday purchase transactions at chip terminals or ATMs. Merchants around the world are in the process of upgrading their payment terminals to be able to accept chip cards. Meanwhile, to ensure global acceptance, your Home Trust Visa Chip Card is also outfitted with the traditional magnetic stripe for use at point-of-sale terminals not yet converted to Chip and PIN.
