Home Trust’s 2019 Public Accountability Statement

On May 12, 2020, Home Trust released its 2019 Public Accountability Statement (PAS), which provides our customers, shareholders, employees, and members of the public at large with a summary of the ways in which we are working to support the communities where we live and work.

Last year, Home Trust contributed $373,000 in donations and sponsorships in support of charitable causes that are aligned with our corporate values. Our employees generously donated more than 800 hours of their time to serve our communities by participating in initiatives to help at-risk youth, protect our natural habitats, aid those less fortunate, and to advocate for physical and mental wellness.

We recognize the importance of giving back to the community, and we are proud to support our employees and local neighbourhoods. Here is a sample of some of the programs and initiatives that Home Trust and its employees were pleased to support in 2019.

Community and charitable support

Home Trust supported more than 40 different organizations, charities and causes through sponsorship, donations, and volunteer work. The following initiatives are in alignment with the corporate values that we live and breathe every day:

Employee recognition and support

The people at Home Trust make what we do possible, and that is why we are committed to the future of the more than 700 employees who call Home Trust home. Along with comprehensive training, we are investing in technology to help foster a culture of innovation and an entrepreneurial spirit. We strive to make Home Trust a great place to work, and we recognize the accomplishments of our employees and their families.

In December, 103 individuals from across our organization were honoured with special recognition at our first annual Home Awards. From employees who live and breathe our Home Values, to those with 5, 10, 15, 20 and even 25+ years of service, we wanted to celebrate some of our amazing colleagues who inspire us every day.

The children of our employees are an extension of the Home Trust family. In 2019, we awarded $36,000 in bursaries to help them with their post-secondary education.

Sustainability for the future

Home Trust is committed to operating in a responsible and sustainable way. To that end, and to help us reduce our carbon footprint, our residential underwriting practice has now gone paperless. In 2019, we processed 9,500 mortgage applications entirely online.

Though we don’t know what “business as usual” will look like when we return to our offices, or even when that will be, we do know that Home Trust will continue to support the communities in which we live and work.
